In honor of Beltane

I did a few exercises at the Poet's Workshop board today and since today is May 1st, I felt it only fitting to write in honor of the Goddess.

Summer sure took hold today,
this cardinal day of May.
Beltane fires roar
and winter Gods
retreat once more,
to wait out
the Wheel of Time.

And this second one which is really rough but is a form poem called Acrostic.

Bring forth the spark,
Enrobe the pyre, for
Lust will set us free.
Tomorrow's wind blows warm
Again. A
Never ending cycle, an
Everlasting dream.

You have a talent with poem writing. I learned a new word today as well...Acrostic. I looked up the meaning on dictionary.com. Anyway, I write poetry but do not know anything about it. I would assume there are many different forms of poetry. There is always something new to learn huh!

Anyway- bravo!

Thanks SS!

Yes there are many many forms of poetry, which I didnt realize either when I first went to the Poet's Workshop board. I knew about sonnets and haiku but that was about it! Hehehe I actually really like working in form because it helps me focus my thoughts but some are a lot harder then others. 8-)
