Lesbians in the House!

Hehe by that of course I mean, House M.D. the TV show on Fox. Last night's episode was about a woman and her partner, with one being deathly ill and the other donating half her liver to save her. The catch? The sick women was actually planning to dump her partner and she doesn't know it (we think) when she goes thru the procedure. At the very end we find out that she did know, but slyly says "well I just gave her her life back, she can't leave me now" . I was like Whoaaaaaaaaa blown away at first. Its hard to imagine people truly having those kinds of feelings and for a minute I was mad because I thought it portrayed Lesbians in a bad way (being so manipulative) but K pointed out that the same thing could have been done with a heterosexual couple and she is right, but still.. I guess it just bothers me to see that kind of crap in any relationship.. *sigh
It was nice to see lesbians once again in a mainstream TV show. We are everywhere aren't we? *wink

Manipulation comes in all forms and from many types of people. There are lesbian women who will lie and cheat in a relationship as well as heterosexual women who will manipulate their spouse. Men are twice as likely to tell a woman they love them when they don't. But, so far in my lifetime only a lesbian woman has hurt me with the fake "I love you." So, there you go. TV should show it all.

I personally avoid all shows that have lesbian characters because it depresses me. I even changed the channel when I think Fox was showing a clip about Rosie's cruise. It was depressing. That's something I don't have and I don't want to be reminded of it. I don't mind watching shows with gay men though or heterosexual couples.

I'm just strange. LOL

Thanks for the comment RJ. I know manipulation comes in all forms. I have been a victim myself a few times. But I finally learned I can't let the past cloud my future. Each experience in my life is a new chance and a fresh start.

Hope you can enjoy being around lesbians again someday. Most of us are good peeps *smile

I was happy with the portrayal, thought they were respectful (no small thing given House's attitude.)

I thought on the ending and in the end came away with it showing the depth of love this woman had, though it did leave them questioning. They after all had thought her totally altruistic. In a sense the devotion was there, just misapplied, and very much something that would happen with a het couple.

House has done a couple of interesting lgbt programmes this year. Earlier they had the intersexed woman, where testosterone would not bind to any receptors, so although genetically male was running on pure estrogen.

Nice post, ting.

Hey Nelle! Thanks for stopping by!

I agree that House is one of my favorite shows and it has brought some interesting plot lines to mainstream TV this year. Kirche and I were thrilled when one episode dealt with 2 gay men at odds over treatment for their adopted son because the fact that they were gay parents was treated as totally normal.
